200 Greek companies accounted almost 50 pct of import/export value in 2015

A total of 37,455 Greek enterprises made imports, exports or both transactions in 2015, Hellenic Statistical Authority said in a report released on Monday.

The statistics service said that 22,854 enterprises made transactions with EU member-states and 25,133 with third countries. The value of trade was 67,237 millon euros, of which 35,684 million were transactions with EU countries and 31,552 million euros were transactions with third countries.

Enterprises in the sectors of manufacturing, electricity natural gas, air conditioning, water supply, waste management and mines restructuring, accounted for 55 pct of the value of transactions, with the remaining covered by enterprises in agriculture, fisheries, constructions and other services (9.6 pct) and wholesale/retail commerce, vehicle/motorcycle repair (35.4 pct).

From a total of 31,590 importing enterprises, with an import value of 41,957 million euros, a 46.9 pct (19,673 million) was made by enterprises in the sectors of manufacturing, electricity, natural gas, air conditioning, water supply, waste management and mines restructuring, with the remaining 10.7 pct (4,487 million euros) covered by enterprises in agriculture, fishery, constructions and other services and a 42.4 pct (17,797 million) from enterprises in the wholesale/retail commerce, vehicle/motorcycle repair sectors.

Among exporting companies (totaling 17,732 with export value of 25,280 million euros), a 68.6 pct of value was covered by enterprises in the manufacturing, electricity, natural gas, air conditioning, water supply, waste management and mires restructuring, a 7.7 pct by enterprises in the agriculture, fishery, constructions and other services and a 23.7 pct by enterprises in the wholesale/retail and vehicle/motorcycle repair sectors.

Small enterprises with less than 50 workers (accounting for 87.5 pct of total importing enterprises) accounted for 31.7 pct of total import value, medium-sized enterprises with 50-249 workers (accounting for 4.5 pct importing enterprises) covered 23.6 pct of total imports and large enterprises with more than 250 workers (accounting for 1.2 pct of total number of importing companies) accounted for 44.4 pct of the value of imports.

Among exporting companies, small-sized enterprises with less than 50 workers (accounting for 85.6 pct of total number of exporting companies) accounted for 28 pct of total export value, small-sized enterprises with 50-249 workers (accounting for 6.2 pct of total exporting companies) made 21.7 pct of total export value and large enterprises with more than 250 workers (accounting for 1.5 pct of total export companies) made 50 pct of total export value.

A total of five enterprises accounted for 25.9 pct of total import value in 2015, while a total of 100 enterprises accounted for 47.7 pct of import value.

A 25.9 pct of export value was covered by five enterprises, while 100 comanies accounted for 53.6 pct of total exports.
