Landis + Gyr to transfer two production lines to Greece

Landis + Gyr has begun transferring the production lines for two more models of “smart” electricity meters to the Corinthian facilities, this time from a UK unit, and expects that the whole process will have ended by the end of October.

As the company announced, the new production lines in Corinth have already been built for the new range of “smart” meters, that are already being sold in Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Poland, Croatia, Bosnia, Finland and Slovenia. Interest has also been shown by many electricity companies in other countries.

This new activity of Landis + Gyr Greece will add 40 working places to the company’s existing workforce, which also includes a large percentage of specialized staff, for which recruitment procedures are in progress.

Mr. Dimitrios Avrampos, Managing Director of Landis + Gyr Greece, said:

“When Landis + Gyr transferred the production of electromechanical electricity meters from France, Germany, Spain and Italy to Greece, that is in the early 2000s, Landis + Gyr Greece has now been established as the key Factory of “Smart” electricity meters for the European Union as well for the world market, while maintaining the production of electromechanical products and its significant know-how in this field at the same time”.

At the end of June 2017, Landis + Gyr completed successfully the transfer from its factory in France to Corinth.

Its subsidiary in Greece, Landis + Gyr SA, was established in 1970 and it deals with development, production and distribution of electricity meters, including smart meters.

Landis + Gyr SA has more than 500 employees with annual sales more than 110 million.
