Three fire men injured in Zevgolatio fire in Corinth

Three fire men were injured during fire-fighting operations in Zevgolatio, Corinth on Thursday, while trying to put out a wildfire burning through mixed forest and farm land. They were taken to the Corinth Hospital, where one was reported to be in a more serious condition.

The three men were injured when an agricultural machine they were using to approach the fire front, which was inaccessible to fire brigade vehicles, tipped over.

The head of the fire brigade Lieut. General Vassilis Kapelios has gone to the hospital and a fire brigade Super-Puma helicopter is on standby to take them to a hospital in Athens, if necessary.
The fire is continuing to burn crops and forest.
