Τhe goal is to restore power to vast majority of areas by nightfall, Skrekas says

Since last night, the areas that have been left without electricity have been reduced by 50 pct, while the goal is to restore power to the vast majority of areas by Tuesday night, according to a briefing by the Minister of Environment and Energy Kostas Skrekas and the CEO of the transmission system operator DEDDIE, Anastasios Manos.

However, the process is hampered because access to some areas has not been restored yet.

In particular, as the minister pointed out, out of the 79 medium voltage lines that were down at the peak of the phenomenon, after the intensive work that continued throughout the night, by morning these were reduced to 45 and by noon to 37, parts of which have been restored.

Skrekas noted that, in contrast to last year’s bad weather, the problems in the northern suburbs this year were very few and located in some areas of Dionysos and Agios Stefanos, which was due to extensive pruning that was done on time.
Manos stated that 650 employees with 180 vehicles were working to repair the damage, in cooperation with the Civil Protection and the police.
