“We need more Europe” to meet both current and future challenges, Alternate Foreign Minister for European Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis, who is attending the EU General Affairs Council, said on Tuesday.
“The European agenda is open. We are faced with very important dilemmas, after the geopolitical developments that have to do with strategic autonomy, but also with the role of Europe in the world. In this debate, which begins today at the General Affairs Council and will continue at the October summit, Greece comes up with a clear position. We need more Europe to meet the challenges that already exist, such as Covid-19, but also to meet future challenges related to security in the Mediterranean and to protect against potential refugee flows and, of course, to protect consumers from the sharp increases in energy prices,” Varvitsiotis underlined.
