Greece registered 2,135 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, of which 13 were identified at the country’s entry points, said the National Public Health Organization (EODY).
All cases in Greece total 95,137 of which 4,840 relate to travel from abroad and 24,679 to already confirmed infection cases.
A total of 562 individuals are intubated. Their median age is 65 years, 82 pct have an underlying condition or are aged 70 or more and 161 of them are women. Another 490 have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic.
EODY also registered 101 new deaths, bringing coronavirus fatalities to 1,815 in total. The median age of all fatalities was 80 years, 97.1 pct had an underlying condition and/or were aged 70 or above, and 721 were women.
Private sector docs
A total of 210 private sector doctors have responded to the Health Ministry’s call for help with the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic in northern Greece and Thessaloniki hospitals in particular, the ministry said on Tuesday.
Thanking them, the ministry said that 13 of them were in the highest priority specialties needed and had agreed to work exclusively for the region of Macedonia on temporary contracts. Eight of them will be posted in Thessaloniki hospitals, two in the Hospital of Drama, two in that of Halkidiki, and one in Edessa’s Hospital.
