German tourist rescued in eastern Crete after suffering heart attack

A German tourist was transferred to a hospital after suffering a heart attack while trekking in the mountainous area of Kato Zakros, in eastern Crete, the local fire department said.

The 52-year-old man was trekking near the cave of Pelekita when he felt unwell and his wife called for assistance.

They were rescued by Sitia’s fire department and the town’s emergency volunteer rescue team and transferred by ambulance to the nearest hospital where he’s being treated.
