Greek stocks ended flat in the last trading session of the week in the Athens Stock Exchange on Friday. The composite index eased 0.04 pct to end at 623.35 points, for a net gain of 1.87 pct in the week. The index is up 5.45 pct so far in November and down 1.27 pct in the year. The Large Cap index edged 0.06 pct higher and the Mid Cap index rose 1.17 pct. Turnover was a moderate 55.161 million euros, in volume of 78,574,193 shares.
Metka (1.67 pct), Coca Cola HBC (1.15 pct), Aegean Airlines (1.14 pct) were top gainers among blue chip stocks, while Eurobank (3.57 pct), Hellenic Petroleum (2.45 pct) and Lamda Development (2.32 pct) suffered heavy losses.
Among market sectors, Chemicals (2.50 pct), Food (1.16 pct) and Personal Products (1.10 pct) scored big gains, while Real Estate (1.62 pct), Financial Services (1.14 pct) and Utilities (0.82 pct) suffered losses. National Bank and Piraeus Bank were the most heavily traded securities of the day. Broadly, decliners led advancers by 63 to 46 with another 16 issues unchanged. Lazaridis Estate (27.54 pct), Forthnet (18.11 pct) and Euromedica (16.67 pct) were top gainers, while Athina (20 pct), Medicon (19.68 pct) and Dionic (19.55 pct) were top losers.
ADEX closing report
The December contract on the FTSE/ASE Large Cap index was trading at a premium of 0.27 pct in the Athens Derivatives Exchange on Friday. Volume on the Big Cap index totaled 841 contracts with 9,384 open positions in the market. Volume in futures contracts on equities totaled 52,504 contracts with investment interest focusing on Piraeus Bank’s contracts (15,131), followed by Alpha Bank (7,628), National Bank (13,502), Eurobank (10,942), MIG (2,811), OTE (575), PPC (559), Viohalco (210), Korinth Pipeworks (105), OPAP (83), Hellenic Petroleum (111).
Greek bond market closing report
The yield spread between the 10-year Greek and German benchmark bonds edged up to 6.74 pct in the domestic electronic secondary bond market on Friday, from 6.73 pct the previous day, with the Greek bond yielding 6.96 pct and the German Bund yielding 0.22 pct. Turnover was a light 6.0 million euros.
In interbank markets, interest rates were largely unchanged. The 12-month rate was -0.079 pct, the nine-month rate was -0.135 pct, the six-month rate was -0.219 pct, the three-month rate was -0.314 pct and the one-month rate was -0.373 pct.
