The appointment platform to book a third, booster shot of a vaccine against COVID-19 will open 5.5 months after the second dose but the vaccination itself will not be done before the six months from the second dose are up, Secretary General for primary healthcare Marios Themistokleous said on Wednesday.
Talking to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA), he said the platform will be ready within the next few days, while clarifying that the third dose will be available six months after a second dose with either the Pfizer, AstraZeneca or Moderna vaccines and two months after the single dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
The third dose for citizens vaccinated with the AstraZeneca, Moderna or Pfizer vaccines will be with the mRNA Pfizer vaccines and for those vaccinated with the Johnson and Johnson vaccine, it can be either with the Johnson and Johnson or the Pfizer vaccine.
Vaccination with the Moderna vaccine will begin on November 12.
