The Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE) has introduced key initiatives in Greece, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said at an event celebrating its centennial in Athens on Wednesday.
Three incisive steps TEE undertook that are “of particular significance”, the premier said, were its registry, its inspectors checking public buildings for accessibility by fellow-citizens with disabilities, and inspections to determine seismic resilience in buildings. The last one in particular, he noted, is particularly important by involving the Chamber in checking damage from earthquakes at public schools and hospitals by priority.
He also mentioned the issue of maintenance at the Olympic Center, expressing the hope that with the Chamber’s contribution it will be feasible to reopen the Calatrava arches area to the public with safety.
Mitsotakis pointed out additional key initiatives the Technical Chamber of Greece has taken in recent years, including issuing building permits online, and the Registry of Building Inspectors, which has relieved local city planning offices from inspecting every single building under construction.
Also addressing the event were among others President Katerina Sakellaropoulou and Parliament President Constantine Tassoulas.
