Agreement opens the way to building restorations on the former royal estate of Tatoi

Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni and Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund’s (TAIPED) representative Panagiotis Stampoulidis signed a contract on Tuesday opening the way for a tender to refurbish the buildings on the former royal estate of Tatoi, on Mt. Parnitha.

The signing of the contract marks the beginning of the second phase of the development of the Tatoi estate, with the restoration of buildings intended for accommodation, dining, and recreation. The initial estimated budget amounts to 25 million euros.
Mendoni said the ministry has been implementing a multilevel restoration project since 2019 that aims to turn the estate into a cultural center and follow sustainable practices.

Commenting on the signing, National Economy & Finance Minister Kostis Hatzidakis – to whose ministry Tatoi belongs – noted that the  upgrade and development of a section of the former royal summer residence will protect the forested area, attract hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, and exploit abandoned areas through tourism and farming uses.
