The 77th Cannes Film Festival, which takes place from May 14 to 25, features two films that have been supported by the Greek Cash Rebate Program and EKOME, among all Greek submissions.
Greek film organizations are in Cannes supporting the Greek film community and helping producers, creators and distributors network in international markets, find financiers and partners and further strengthen Greek cinema.
The National Centre for Audiovisual Media and Communication (EKOME) and the Hellenic Film Centre (which are already in the process of merging) – the Thessaloniki Film Festival and the Drama Short Film Festival – have joined forces and planned a series of important actions, highlighting the creative potential of Greek cinema.
The first is “ Kinds of kindness” by internationally renowned director Yorgos Lanthimos under the festival’s competition section, and “ Kyuka before summer’s end” by Kostis Charamountanis, under the Cannes ACID (Association for the Distribution of Independent Cinema) section, an action by the Distributors’ Association dedicated to the discovery and promotion of independent cinema from all over the world.
EKOME is continuing its extroverted initiatives, aiming to establish Greece’s position on the world map of the audiovisual industry.
All Greek creators had as their center the Greek booth, a welcoming marketplace of the Cannes Festival, where dozens of meetings, discussions, and important appointments with leading actors in international filmography took place.
