Firefighters battled a blaze that broke out Wednesday afternoon at Palamides SA, a manufacturer of the PAL line of cooking utensils, located on Egidon Street in the Panorama section of Kifissia, north of Athens. By evening, the fire was brought under control.

An updated report by the Fire Department said that the fire did not spread to nearby facilities. It also said that there were no reports of individuals being trapped or injured.

A total of 45 firefighters with 15 fire trucks were on the scene and a helicopter provided aerial support in the ongoing efforts to put the fire out. Local government water trucks and volunteers are also assisting in the firefighting efforts.

Meanwhile, Citizen Protection services sent a mass alert earlier via the 112 number, advising citizens to stay indoors and shut doors and windows due to the smoke.

According to police, traffic is now flowing normally on the Athens-Lamias National Road towards Athens, which had been previously interrupted.
