The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Google Greece signed a memorandum of cooperation on Tuesday to develop the skills of the academic community in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
University rector Gerasimos Siasos emphasized that this collaboration is set to bring transformative changes in education, research and technology, noting that AI is no longer exclusive to scientists and researchers but impacts all aspects of life.
Siasos expressed confidence that the partnership will provide long-term benefits, significantly upgrading education and research in Greece. General Director of Google Southeast Europe Peggy Antonakou, highlighted AI as both a significant opportunity and a major responsibility.
She stated that the goal of this collaboration is to equip the academic community with essential knowledge and skills to maximize the potential of AI. “ Additionally, the signing of the memorandum marks a milestone in their commitment to empower Greek talent and accelerate the country’s digital transformation,” she said.
The cooperation aims to strengthen digital skills and spread knowledge about AI, focusing on educational programs that cover topics such as machine learning, data analysis, cybersecurity, and digital marketing strategies using AI.
