A total of 365 million euros have been distributed and paid in less than a year and a half to tens of thousands of beneficiaries who have been affected by storms, Deputy Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Minister Christos Triantopoulos said on Parliament on Tuesday.
Triantopoulos was speaking during a plenary debate of a bill on the institution of personal doctor and other provisions. He defended his ministry’s request for continued support from the National Economy & Finance Ministry resources and for the extension of the transfer time of staff moved to his ministry. “They are extensions critical to the efficient operation of services so that the significant effort expended is not weakened and particularly that the process of payments and support payments to those affected is not disturbed,” he said.
He added, “We have managed to disburse over 342 million euros in more than 65,000 cases of people harmed by the floods of September 2023, within a space of 14 months. Beyond these reimbursements, however, for the floods of 2023, nearly 23 million euros have been disbursed at the same time for other weather destructions.”
