Athens-listed group Metlen Energy & Metals has been awarded three solar PV projects in Spain totaling 160 MWp for Cero Generation in the area of Palencia in Castile-Leon, the company announced on Tuesday.
The project includes the integrated development and construction of medium-voltage underground lines connecting each switching station with the existing substation, with a length of approximately 18 km and performance of two years of operation and maintenance (O&M) services.
All projects (Grijota III, IV and V) are expected to deliver more than 307 GWh of renewable energy per year, equivalent to powering close to 95,000 homes and avoiding over 110,000 tons of CO2 emissions, and deliver biodiversity net gains at each project site.
Over 150 people will be involved in constructing the solar projects.
The selection of Metlen for those projects consolidates the company’s position in the Spanish market as a leader in providing competitive solar solutions for the Iberian industry, which will be added to the approximately 700 MW already commissioned capacity of PV plants in Spain, which by 2025 is expected to exceed 1 GW.
