Passenger traffic in Greek airports has “jumped” 8.9% in the first 10 months of 2024, in comparison with the same period the previous year, according to figures released by the Civil Aviation Authority on Friday. The figures concern the 39 civilian airports in the country, including 24 operated by the CAA, 14 operated by Fraport Greece and Athens International Airport.
In absolute figures, there were 72,805,622 passengers in total in January-October 2024, up from 66,845,641 passengers in the same period in 2023.
In terms of flight arrivals and departures, these increased 6.9% in January-October 2024 compared to the same months in 2023, to 546,858 flights in 2024 from 511,723 flights in 2023.
According to CAA governor Giorgos Saounatsos, airports were heading for a new passenger traffic record, as this had already surpassed the annual total for 2023 in just the first 10 months of 2024.
Analysing the figures further, CAA said passenger traffic in the first 10 months of 2024 was up 6.8% for the 24 airports managed by CAA.
