A Metron Analysis poll for MEGA channel has revealed that the ruling conservative New Democracy party maintains the lead in voter preferences, though its margin over socialist PASOK has shrunk to single digits. Meanwhile, economic issues, particularly inflation, dominate public concerns.
In the vote estimate, ND stands at 27.2%, with PASOK trailing at 19.1%. Leftist SYRIZA, under its new leadership, has slipped to fifth place with 8.1%.
The Greek Solution party ranks third with 11.8%, followed by the Communist Party (KKE) at 10.4%.
Movement for Democracy, the new party founded by Stefanos Kasselakis, until recently leader of SYRIZA, debuts at 4.2%, surpassing other smaller parties like Voice of Reason (4.3%), Course of Freedom (Plefsi Eleftherias) (3.4%), Niki (3.2%) and New Left (1.9%).
In leadership approval, 34% of respondents opted for “none” as the top choice for prime minister, followed by Kyriakos Mitsotakis at 30%. PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis trails far behind at 8%.
Among party leaders, Sokratis Famellos, elected at the helm of SYRIZA just last weekend, leads in popularity with 47%, followed by Androulakis (43%), KKE leader Dimitris Koutsoumbas (41%) and Mitsotakis (37%).
When asked about Greece’s key issues, 41% cited inflation as the top concern, with 26% pointing to the economy. Other matters, like foreign policy, institutional crises and unemployment were mentioned by only 4%.
The poll also indicates growing dissatisfaction with the government with 66% holding a negative view and only 26% expressing a positive opinion. Mitsotakis fares similarly with 65% disapproval and 29% approval.
