Traffic restrictions will apply on Thursday in downtown Athens from 10.30 a.m. due to the swearing-in ceremony of the new president, Konstantinos Tasoulas.
The measures, comprising traffic stoppages and parking bans around Syntagma Square and the Presidential Mansion, will last until the end of the ceremony.
The police have appealed to motorists to avoid the wider area during the inauguration.
Tasoulas will be sworn in before Parliament. A former parliamentary speaker, he succeeds Katerina Sakellaropoulou in the largely ceremonial role.
Before officially assuming office, he will take an oath before Parliament, pledging to uphold the country’s constitution, abide by its laws, and safeguard the rights and freedoms of the Greek people.
Tasoulas was elected president in February, receiving 160 votes from MPs.
