The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has made it publicly known that the elections which will appoint the new president of the federation will take place on September 14 in Athens, in a conference where all its 55 members will partake.
The executive committee of UEFA made its decision in a meeting on May 18, before the final game of the Europa League, which will take place in Basel between Liverpool and Sevilla.
The newly elected president who will succeed Michel Platini — who was removed from his position after he was charged for being involved in a financial scandal — will lead the Union of European Football Associations until March 2019. In addition, the new president will have duties as vice-president of FIFA.
The deadline for candidacy submissions is July 20.
