A post on a Greek government website on Wednesday said that the Finance Ministry will be forming a committee to put together a team of specially trained dogs that will be trained to detect cash.
The new team made of man’s best friends will be lending a hand to sniffing out tax dodgers trying to take cash out of the country.
It is estimated that from November 2014 until July of 2015 more that 50 billion euros left the banks as fears of a Grexit prompted people to empty out their bank accounts, and an estimated 15 to 20 billion is still being hoarded in mattresses and personal home safes.
Tenders for the provision of dogs is open to various preferred breeds such as German Shepherds, Labradors or Belgian Malinois, the government post said, as reported on Greece’s Star Channel TV. Also, it said that a pedigree is not necessary.
