Six Turkish fighter jets entered Athens’ FIR and flew over the small island of Kinaros in the eastern Aegean on Wednesday, without submitting a flight plan, the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS) said in a statement.
According to HNDGS, two F-16 and two F-4 flew between Chios and Samos at 26,000 feet at 16:23, followed after three minutes by two more F-16s who flew over Kinaros at 22,000 feet.
Greek Air Force sent two pairs of F-16 from the 133rd Combat Wing in Kasteli and the 130th Combat Wing in Lemnos, which identified and intercepted the Turkish aircraft.
