Alt. Citizen Protection Min Toskas orders increased police presence in Athens

A new operational plan with an increased presence of policemen in uniform to enhance policing in central Athens has been implemented by the Hellenic Police at the orders of Alternate Citizen Protection Minister Nikos Toskas.

Starting from Thursday, 35 pairs of police officers in uniform were added to the already existing police patrols, working in two shifts with specific areas of responsibility, on busy commercial roads and squares.

On the occasion of the launch of the new plan, Toskas visited the Greek police headquarters in Athens on Thursday and spoke to police officers who will participate in the increased measures. He gave them directions on the part of the political leadership that aim at improving conditions in the centre of Athens and helping to enhance a sense of security in the citizens.
