Alt. Environment Minister Tsironis: Greece will complete the ratification of the Paris Agreement on October 5

Greece will complete the ratification of the Paris Agreement to address climate change with its introduction in the plenum on October 5, Alternate Minister for the Environment Yiannis Tsironis said on Friday at the extraordinary Council of Environment Ministers in Brussels.

The aim of the council was to prepare European positions ahead of the 22nd session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 22) which will be held in Marrakech, Morocco next November and where the next steps for implementing the Paris Agreement will be discussed.

“Despite individual differences the Council of Ministers agreed that the European Union will be represented by a single voice in order to have a strong presence and be able, once again, to play a leading role in efforts to create a strong legally binding legislative tool to effectively address climate change,” it was announced.
