Alt. FM Katrougalos holds talks with OSCE SG Lamberto Zannier in Athens

Developments in the Western Balkans and Ukraine were the focus of talks between Alternate Foreign Minister George Katrougalos and the Secretary General of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Lamberto Zannier in Athens on Wednesday.

With respect to the Western Balkans, Katrougalos and Zannier agreed that the interests of all sides would be best served if there is an effort to promote political stability and the rule of law, a foreign ministry announcement said.

Katrougalos also expressed Greece’s support for the OSCE’s work in Ukraine, noting that the specific crisis presents great challenges.

The minister will be departing for the northwestern Greek city of Ioannina later on Wednesday in order to attend the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR) and Adriatic-Ionian Initiative (AII) ministerial meetings taking place there.
