Alt. FM Katrougalos in Morocco for 5th Euro-African migration conference

Representing Greece at the 5th Euro-African Ministerial Conference on Migration held in Morocco on Wednesday, Alternate Foreign Minister George Katrougalos highlighted the need to address its root causes, namely the extreme inequality within and between states.

According to an announcement, he also expressed Greece’s support for regional cooperation and initiatives like the Rabat Process or the UN effort to establish a global agreement on safe, orderly and legal migration.

Referring to the solidarity shown by the Greek people to refugees and migrants, in spite of the severe economic crisis in Greece, Katrougalos said that Greece had steadfastly given active support to a global approach to migration as an issue that concerns both growth and human rights.

On Thursday, Katrougalos will visit Casablanca at the head of a Greek business delegation organised by the Federation of Hellenic Enterprises (SEV) and the Northern Greece Exporters’ Association (SEVE), to attend the Greece-Morocco business forum.
