Alternate Foreign Minister George Katrougalos on Tuesday will participate in the EU General Affairs Council and will stress the need to strengthen the social dimension and the democratization of EU economic governance.
The EU General Affairs Council is meeting in order to prepare the European Council of March 9 and 10 and ahead of the summit for the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Rome Treaty.
The European Commission will brief the EU ministers of European Affairs on the next steps for an EU sustainable future and will discuss some of the most burning issues, such as economy, security and external relations.
Earlier, Katrougalos participated as an observer in a working breakfast of the Social Democrats, on the future of Europe for the 60th anniversary of the founding declaration of Europe.
After the Council, he will meet with the heads of the Socialists Gianni Pittella, of the Greens Ska Keller and of DIE LINKE Gabriele Zimmer, at the European Parliament.
