Amendment tabled postponing final deadline for 2015 wealth statements until April 13

An amendment tabled in Parliament on Wednesday, which will be passed with a draft bill ratifying tourism cooperation between Greece and Egypt on Thursday, will postpone the final deadline for submitting wealth statements for 2015 until April 13.

The three-month extension to the deadline, which would otherwise expire on January 15, was decided due to cases disputing the obligation to submit wealth statements that are currently pending before the Council of State, filed by justices’ unions and media owners.

Politicians, senior civil servants, judges, media owners, journalists and several other professions in Greece are currently required to submit statements of their assets and explain how these were acquired on an annual basis.
