Anti-establishment youths clash with riot police at the center of Patras

A group of anti-establishment youths clashed with riot police at the center of Patras on Thursday when they threw petrol bombs and set garbage containers and tires on fire as they stepped outside the building of the former university branch.

A riot police unit stationed nearby threw tear gas and pushed the group away from the building. They also detained an unknown number of people at the police station.

Earlier in the day, anti-establishment groups had marched through the streets to protest the transfer of suspected parcel bomber Dinos Yiagtzoglou from Korydallos prison in the greater Piraeus area to Larissa.
