Antiflooding master plan presented to Attica Region; copies to ministers

A quantified master plan for antiflooding works in Attica Region, severely affected by summer fires, was presented to Regional Director George Patoulis on Wednesday.

The plan points out the dangers of flooding in areas where fires destroyed forests, and calls for immediate projects worth 35 million euros and medium-term ones worth 280 million. It specifically refers to the areas of Alepochori, Varibobi and Vilia (at Mts. Gerania, Parnitha and Pateras) and it is based on studies by the National Observatory of Athens and the University of Athens.

A copy will be sent to all related ministers, while it is on the agenda of the next regional council for discussion.
