Appeals Court to decide on Georgiou case in coming days

An Appeals Council will decide in coming days on whether the former head of the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) Andreas Georgiou should go on trial for a misrepresentation of Greek financial data. This is the third time that the Appeals Council has considered this decision.

The Appeals Court has twice so far acquitted him of charges that he misrepresented Greek fiscal data of 2009 in order to help the then government bring Greece under bailout agreements.
