At least 1,500 cubic meters of oil pumped out of sunken tanker so far, says ministry

At least 1,500 cubic meters of oil has been pumped out of the sunken tanker “Agia Zoni II” so far, the shipping ministry said on Monday.

The ministry has sent five port authority anti-pollution vessels for the cleanup operation in coastal Athens which are working alongside six private vessels. Among them is the “Aktea OSRV”, an anti-pollution vessel of the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA).
