Athens and Nicosia will continue working closely together, Cypriot minister says

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras knows the Cyprus issue in depth and is in daily and close contact with Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades, Cyprus Deputy Minister to the President Vassilis Palmas said on Wednesday.

Asked by Active FM to comment about the resignation of Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias, Palmas said “it would be naïve on our part to take a stance on what is clearly a domestic issue of Greece.”

In terms of the loss of Kotzias’ contribution towards talks to resolve the Cyprus issue, Palmas said that “the collaboration between Athens and Nicosia will continue,” whoever holds the foreign ministry’s portfolio (Tsipras has announced he will).

Palmas also expressed the gratitude and appreciation of the Cyprus Republic government for the excellent collaboration it had with Nikos Kotzias.
