The Athens Union of Journalists (ESIEA) announced on Wednesday it will accept as members journalists who work in online media, in a landmark decision that will affect hundreds of employees who could not become members.
The candidates will have to fulfill the same conditions that apply for current members. The union said its representatives will visit the offices of online media to discuss with journalists about their work and inspect working conditions.
ESIEA will accept membership applications as of October 2 and until November 10 at its offices in central Athens. Candidates will have to submit all the paperwork outlined on its website.
