Attica Bank to protect its good reputation, chairman says

Attica Bank on Monday announced a series of actions aimed to protect its good reputation following criticism made by National Defence Minister Panos Kammenos over the involvement of the bank’s executive board in the management of loans to political parties.

In an announcement, Panagiotis Roumeliotis, chairman of Attica Bank, said that “following comments made by the national defence minister in Parliament over the involvement of Attica Bank’s executive board in the management of political parties’ loans, the chairman ordered the immediate return of these loans under the management of the bank and guaranteed he will act accordingly to preserve the bank’s good reputation and course to complete a share capital increase plan currently underway and the hiring of an international advisor to help in a second securitisation scheme”.

Roumeliotis said that the bank, fully restructured and with a strong solvency rate, will continue operating to serve the interests of its shareholders, clients and society in general.
