BoG governor joins PM’s appeal, contributes half his salary to special Covid-19 account

Bank of Greece governor Yannis Stournaras has donated half of his salary for two months towards the battle against the coronavirus pandemic in Greece.

The voluntary invitation for the contribution was issued earlier in the day by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who called on all MPs of his party and ministers to contribute 50 pct of their salary in the next two months to a special account for Covid-19.

Several high-level officials have responded, including the Greek president, ministers, mayors and other officials throughout Greece.
