BoG: Loans and deposits increased in September 2021

Deposits of households and businesses increased by 503 million euros in September, reaching 132 billion euros, according to data from the Bank of Greece.

Thus, their annual rate of change increased to 9.9% from 9.7% in the previous month. In the area of ​​loans, the monthly net flow of financing to businesses was positive by 603 million euros, compared to a negative net flow of 190 million euros last month, while the annual rate of change decreased to 3.5% from 3.7% in the previous year. month.

In particular, the annual rate of change in the financing of non-financial corporations (MFIs) decreased to 2.8% from 3.2% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of their funding was positive by 376 million euros, compared to a negative net flow of 228 million euros last month. The annual rate of change in the financing of insurance companies and other financial institutions increased to 11.4% from 8.4% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of their funding was positive by 227 million euros, compared to a positive net flow of 38 million euros last month.

In contrast, a negative net flow of € 97 million was the monthly net flow of funding to individuals and private non-profit institutions in September 2021, compared to a negative net flow of € 148 million the previous month. The annual rate of change of their financing was -2.7% from -2.6% in the previous month.

As a result, the annual rate of change in total private sector financing stood at 0.7% from 0.8% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of total funding to the private sector was positive by € 537 million, compared to a negative net flow of € 337 million last month.

The monthly net flow of funding to general government in September 2021 was positive by € 1.4 billion, compared to a positive net flow of € 1.3 billion last month. The annual rate of change in general government funding fell to 51.5% from 55.0% last month.
