The 2018 state budget submitted by the government limit growth because it increases direct and indirect taxes at a time when people’s tax-paying ability has been exhausted, Democratic Coalition leader Fofi Gennimata said on Tuesday evening, during her speech on the budget in parliament.
Gennimata said that the agreements signed by the government will not lead to a clean exit from the bailouts and the economic crisis in 2018.
“You have signed for strict supervision until 2060. The SYRIZA-ANEL government will have to go, in order for the country to exit the crisis and the memorandums,” she said, adding that “this will be the last budget it is tabling.”
She criticized Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras for claiming recently that it is not necessary for Greece to be included in the European Central Bank’s quantitative easing program, when he said the exact opposite a year ago.
“You are trying to present a virtual reality and in fact you are producing a grey reality,” she added.
