Building materials’ prices up 0.8 pct in December

Building materials’ prices grew 0.8 pct in December, reflecting a big increase in diesel prices, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Wednesday.

The statistics service, in a report, said diesel oil prices grew 12.3 pct in December, steel pipes rose 9.4 pct, cement rose 2.1 pct, switches grew 1.4 pct and parkets rose 0.5 pct, while prices fell 1.6 pct in plastic pipes, 0.6 pct in electricity and 0.5 pct in wooden windows.

The building materials’ price composite index rose 0.1 pct in December from November 2017, after a 0.3 pct increase recorded in the same period in 2016. The average index in the January-December 2017 period grew 0.4 pct, after an 1.7 pct decline recorded in 2016.
