Building materials’ prices up 1.3 pct in August

Building materials’ prices grew 1.3 pct in August this year, compared with the same month in 2017, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Tuesday.

The statistics service, in a monthly report, attributed this development to price increases in diesel oil (15.7 pct), iron pipes (6.1 pct), steel pipes (3.2 pct), plastic, acrylic (1.9 pct), radiators (1.3 pct), parquets (1.1 pct), bricks (1.1 pct), switches (0.8 pct), tiles (0.8 pct), cement (0.7 pct), bath tabs (0.7 pct), while on the other hand price decreases were recorded in electricity (2.1 pct), marble dust (1.5 pct), plastic pipes (1.1 pct).

The new home building materials’ composite price index rose 1.3 pct in August, after a 0.2 pct increase recorded in the same period in 2017. The index fell 0.1 pct in August from July 2018.
