Business groups in Thessaloniki called on the organisers of the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) to examine spinning off the political side of the exhibition into a separate event in a move to boost its appeal.
This would help remove the threat of violent demonstrations that often mar the exhibition and harm its appeal among visitors.
The issue was discussed in a meeting on Tuesday with Macedonia regional director Apostolos Tzitzikostas, Thessaloniki mayor Yiannis Boutaris, hoteliers, exporters and other business groups.
