Chief of Turkish Coast Guard Ahmet Kendir in Athens on Thursday

The cooperation between Greece and Turkey’s coast guards on institutional issues, the management of the migration flow and the tackling of migrants trafficking rings and organised crime as well as the violation of Greek territorial waters by Turkish fishermen will be in the agenda of the meeting between the chief of the Greek Coast Guard Stamatis Raptis and his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Kendir at the Greek Coast Guard headquarters at Piraeus on Friday.

Greek coast guard sources said to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency that the aim of the meeting is the development of the cooperation between the two countries in the context of the Confidence Bulding Measures agreed in the past by the two countries’ foreign ministers.

The head of the Turkish Coast Guard, who assumed office in midst August, will arrive in Athens on Thursday. His programme includes a visit to the Acropolis while on Friday he will lay a wreath to the monument of the Unknown Soldier and afterwards he will meet with Raptis in Piraeus.
