Coast guard rescues 112 migrants and refugees early Tuesday

The Greek coast guard intervened in three separate incidents involving migrants and refugees in the Aegean early Tuesday.

In the first case, a coast guard patrol vessel located a dinghy with 27 migrants, two nautical miles southwest of the port of Alexandroupolis. The coast guard officers rescued the foreign nationals and transferred them to Alexandroupolis.

The second incident was reported in the sea region southeast of Farmakonissi when a coast guard vessel located and rescued 42 migrants and refugees that were on a dinghy and afterwards transferred them to the port of Farmakonissi.

The third incident occurred in the sea region “Cape Prasso”, Samos when a coast guard patrol vessel located and rescued 47 migrants and refugees. The foreign nationals were transferred to the port of Vathy, Samos.
