The support of Greece to promote the digital economy will dominate the agenda of the visit of EU Commissioner Günther Oettinger in Athens on Monday, October 31.
According to an announcement of the European Commission, Oettinger will meet with the Secretary General of Digital Policy Ioannis Tafyllis, at 9.30 am, and then will talk with representatives of the Greek industry in a round table discussion on “Telecommunications and Digital Development.”
Oettinger will then give a press conference at the offices of the European Parliament in Greece. He will also meet with members of the European Union Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA), based in Athens.
“The European Commission has proposed the creation of a legal framework to attract and facilitate investments in connectivity, the full development of 5G systems, free wireless Internet access by 2020 and also digitize the industry. All these policies are on implementation track and will undoubtedly dominate the Commissioner Oettinger’s talks next week in Athens,” said the head of European Commission Representation in Greece Panos Karvounis.
