Council of State approves project in Asteria Glyfada

Greece’s supreme administrative court, the Council of State, on Monday gave the go-ahead to a project to modernize tourist facilities in Asteria Glyfada and said that all hotel facilities in the area were legal.

The court rejected a petition by six citizens of Glyfada municipality asking for the plan to upgrade tourist facilities in Asteria Glyfada to be scrapped for environmental reasons. “Nafsika” – a company that has leased the area – plans to build a five-star hotel with a capacity of 400 beds.

The CoS said that both the Greek constitution and a forestry code allowed interventions in forest areas to create tourist facilities, subject to certain conditions, more so when such facilities already existed.
