The advantages of Crete and its growth potential as a quality and safe tourism destination were presented at the annual conference of ITTAA (Israeli Travel and Tourist Agencies) that was held in Athens.
Over 400 tour operators and agencies from Israel participated in the annual conference of ITTAA that was co-organised by the Federation of Hellenic Travel and Tourist Agencies (FEDHATTA). The organisers invited the regions of Crete and southern Aegean to present their tourist products and their strategy.
The region of Crete presented the main pillars of tourism development on the island noting that the Israeli market is included in the top ten tourist markets in terms of tourist arrivals on the island. Moreover, the representative of the region of Crete Nikos Raptakis emphasised on the safety adding that there was a 66 percent increase in Israeli tourist arrivals on Crete in the period 2011 – 2016 while over 144, 000 Israeli nationals chose Crete for their vacations in 2016.
