Crews in FYROM start removing ‘Alexander the Great’ road signs

A crew of FYROM’s state-owned company that manages the country’s road network started removing on Wednesday road signs on the motorway formerly known as “Alexander the Great”.

The crew removed the first out of 19 signs along the motorway linking FYROM’s border with Serbia with its border with Greece and will replace them with signs inscribed with the new name, “Friendship”.

The move is part of the government’s efforts to reach a deal with Greece in the name dispute that has stalled for more than two decades.
