Culture Minister Lydia Koniordou visited the National Museum of Contemporary Art on Thursday to discuss preparations to host the international modern art exhibition documenta 14.
“It was a hope, desire and longing of the past decades to find a roof […] able to accommodate the work of contemporary artists,” she said.
“But the museum is not only the building – it is the people. Those who worked for this and prepared it all those years. Soon we expect it to open its doors and host documenta 14, by presenting a large part of the events here, where thousands of people, not just from Greece but from around the world, will come as visitors,” she said.
Koniordou met with the president of the museum, Georgios Papanastasiou, the members of the managing board, the artistic director Katerina Koskina and the documenta 14 team which is working to have everything ready on the opening day.
