UN Secretary General Special Adviser Espen Barth Eide is expected to hold meetings with President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci, separately, on Monday, as a new round of intensified talks is set to get underway on Tuesday, Radio Proto reported.

During the new round of intensified talks, the President and Mr Akinci are expected to meet approximately three to four times a week.

In the meantime, US Assistant Secretary of State, Victoria Nuland is expected to arrive in Cyprus during October, in an effort to encourage the ongoing talks and reaffirm the US’s support for the process.

On Friday evening, during a speech given for the island’s Independence Day, President Anastasiades had said that Cypriots, Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot, need to put the state above all else, to achieve success in this process.
