Defence minister: Greece deals with Turkey’s obsessions with strategic calmness

Greece deals with Turkey’s “historically ignorant and dangerous obsessions” with calmness, Defence Minister Panos Kammenos said on Friday, addressing a graduating ceremony of army officers in Athens.

“Greece, as a nation, deals with Turkey’s historically ignorant and dangerous obsessions with strategic calmness,” he said, adding that the neighbouring country “distorts international law, conventions and morality”, to promote claims against Greece and Cyprus.

“With the continuous violation of Athens’ air traffic regulations, national airspace and the territorial waters of Greece and Cyprus, [Turkey] constitutes a threat to international security in the southeastern Mediterranean region,” he added.
